Cinderella MOTEL‘s sound stands alone – drawing from Berlin Cabaret, Garage Punk, Siouxsie Sioux, X and Bikini Kill, with a dash of Nina Hagen & a splash of Peaches for good measure. Audiences are continuously spellbound upon witnessing a CM Show – whether it’s at Spaceland, El Cid, a film premiere, an art show or a slew of other venues . CM also receives regular airplay at KXLU. Warning: Live shows may be accompanied by ketchup, feathers, handstands, volunteers and the occasional booty-shakin’ evil stepsister.
~~~ Cinderella is running - accordion in one hand, electric guitar in the other, microphone dangling out of her mouth. Outlaws and stepsisters are on her tail > Her only escape = a new moniker - “Tammy Tomahawk” – simply known to some as “The Hawk”.
Donning warpaint and an improvised headdress , Hawk’s utmost need is a place to exercise her eccentricity. A Craigslist posting later, looking for a multi-instrumentalist, Hawk finds quirky, stoic native Angeleno drummer, Raul Guerrero. Coincidentally, Raul owns a motel and thus, Hawk moves her antics/instruments into Room 3.
This is October 2007 - Cinderella MOTEL is born.
Shortly after, the duo’s debut EP: No Vacancy, Mr. Prince is recorded at GrandMaster Studios, Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, handsome motel guest, Mike Wait arrives. Due to his extended stay, CM gains his wacky guitar /keyboard stylings and technical wizardry.
A “Maintenance Help Wanted” sign is posted out front of the motel. Jen Whittenburg responds. She happens to play bass, be an engineer and possess a long mane of hot red hair.
