Michael Harris - Rhythm Guitar & Lead Vocals -- Carl Byron - on Keyboards and Accordion -- Balage Antal - on Electric Lead Guitar -- Blue - on Bass and Paul Livingstone - Drums
Who am I?
I am an Army Brat born in Colorado and raised in Kansas, Germany and Maryland. One of my earliest childhood memories is singing on the corner of our suburban neighborhood to a few friends for absolutely no good reason but it felt natural. Both of my parents sang in their church choirs and I soon followed suit singing in the choir and playing Trombone as my first instrument.
I am the guy who is constantly trying to communicate, to be understood, to move and be moved to get the most out of the one ticket we are given in this life and making the ride as full as possible. I have eaten Peking Duck in Peking, stood on the Great Wall and saw it stretch out to the distance horizons, I have traveled up the Mekong River, ridden elephants in Nepal and had Crocodile on my pizza in Australia. I have lived in Japan (my second home) and I have performed there and in Indonesia, Portugal and the Czech Republic and through it all I have been on a journey to connect with the world around me through my music.
I am someone working to find the right words, that melody line, or phrasing that will help me to express myself a little bit better. I don't always find it, sometimes I do, and still other times I think I'll never be quite satisfied. 2004 found me back in the states and in LA where I was fortunate to have a group of gifted musicians back me up – leading to my debut CD “Open Letter” release in 2006. And it was well received:
“This is no trendy indie effort, just back-to-basics light rock played with love and bittersweet tears. To say that I have been obsessing over this record would be an understatement; I am completely under its spell, from the engaging shuffling beat of the title track to the mournful, contemplative strings of “September Song”. Harris is a gifted songwriter who probably isn't aware of how good he truly is." Whispering & Hollerin – U.K. - Adam Harrington
“Some critics have compared Harris' voice to that of Peter Gabriel and Matthew Scannell of Vertical Horizon. There is merit in both although Harris' music has far more substance, lyrically and sonically, than Vertical Horizon's. Artistically, Harris' explorations of jazz, acoustic rock, and world beat can be more closely linked to Gabriel but without any dance elements. Overall Harris prefers a slow groove, and when he is on, he can quite spectacular...” CD Review.com – U.S. - Michael Sutton
I am the guy who tries to give back when, where and how I can – having organized fund raisers for Save Darfur and The African Well Fund and performing for other charities when asked. My mentor in Japan said to me once, “You are a singer first, then a songwriter, then a guitarist..” and I would have to agree with him, but before all these things, I am a guy who is thankful for all who have listened and shared this ride with me.
I am currently working on a new CD to be released this year.
