About Pi
New Album Fire Horse Girl Releases in October!
Collaborating with veteran producer/engineer Randy Wine, the new album Fire Horse Girl evokes the whispers of great 70’s singer-songwriters, yet its approach and lyrics are completely fresh. To celebrate the new release, Pi will embark on a mini bi-coastal tour this fall. She’ll perform in NYC on September 23rd and has three California dates scheduled in October: Ventura - 10/3, SF - 10/10, LA - 10/17. The album will be available digitally in October as well as physically through online retailers CD Baby, iTunes, Amazon and many others as well as at select retail stores.
With over 40 film and TV placements, Pi - a smoky alto - has been heard on such networks as MTV, Oxygen, and Nickelodeon. Listen for songs from Fire Horse Girl on Nickelodeon's Zoey 101, Drake and Josh, and ICarly, and MTV's The Kardashians, and The Real World, and Oxygen's Bad Girl's Club!
The name of Pi’s new album relates to the year of her birth. According to Chinese Astrology, females born in the year of the Fire Horse, which only comes around once every 60 years, are said to consume everything in their path and wreak havoc wherever they go. They are considered dangerous, headstrong, and are seen as deadly to men. Pi relates, “I thought the FHG story fit the record beautifully. The chaos, upheaval, and creativity of my youth was my fate: not something I caused but a destiny to embrace. Being a FHG has given me so many stories to tell through music.”
Pi has had the pleasure and privilege of playing around the country with some of the finest musicians in LA, NY and SF:
El John (Thievery Corp.), Fredo Ortiz (Beastie Boys), Jeff Turlick (Blue Man Group), Zac Matthews (Henri Mancini), Alex Burke (Margaret Cho) Justin Reinhard (Swingers Soundtrack), Christian Nesmith (Kings X), Joel Alpers (Wicked the musical), Alex Alexander (Dido) Keith Golden (Dido), Dan Lutz, Chuck Hailes Adam Gust, Aaron Jacobs, Paul Eastburn, Brian Rodvien and more.
