About
|
|
RoMak & the Space Pirates may in fact be the world's first "post-good" musical group. Their songs tell stories of ironic forgetfulness in a fickle world; obsessing over concepts of show business, the double standards of glamour, historical pop-culture events and vacation advertisements...all while incorporating the flair of a science fiction novel. Their material is colorfully dark and not without a sense of humor. Think "punk-pop" instead of "pop-punk."
They suffer for their art, and the art of others suffers for them. It's fun...and chill. Their first 2 EP releases have been distributed online and through earthbound stores across the United States and Canada. In May of 2008, they released their first full-length album, entitled "Attack of the Has-Been Androids" on wearable USB flash bracelets, to celebrate the demise of the once beloved compact disc.
RoMak & the Space Pirates has shared concert bills with a myriad of eclectic acts such acts as Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Violent Femmes, Unwritten Law, Berlin, Gene Loves Jezebel, Vyncent Flaw, Sugar Ray, Jeffree Star, The 88, Lit, The English Beat, the Psychedelic Furs, the Colour, Martyr Plot (featuring Ginger Fish of Marilyn Manson), Union 13, Go Betty Go, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Nervous Gender, and Reel Big Fish
They have performed many charity events for organizations including The American Cancer Society, Friends of the Public Library and World Can't Wait.
They have also made appearances on various television programs such as the Dr. Phil Show and 'Queer Edge' featuring Sandra Bernhardt. They have graced the pages of Blender Magazine and were once in an Ima Robot music video, even though Ima Robot didn't exactly ask them to be in it.
